The Loop Begins

April 25 2010

Sunday Morning at 10 A.M. we left home port ready for "PeeWee's Great Adventure".

The overcast sky reminded Vicky of channel 4's warning of Thunder, lightning and hail in the area early in the day. Our neighbor, Penny tried to encourage us to leave in the sunnier (predicted) afternoon. She and Anne waved goodbye as we left the dock with the ominous clouds to the North. After an uneventful 2 hours we stopped at the familiar Fernandina Beach Marina to let the weather settle and decide the evenings destination.

Our first visitors, Kelli and Neal Smith, gave us a wireless card. This will be perfect for viewing weather while travelling. After a short visit we decided the weather was now South and we continued North past Cumberland Island, through the sometimes treatuous St. Andrew's Sound and blew by Jeckyl Island and the Millionaire's club.

The day remained overcast until our arrival at Golden Isles Marina in Brunswick, Georgia. As we confirmed our slip assignment with the marina, the skies opened. A brief heavy rain brought with it a beautiful rainbow, the perfect beginning of our trip.
