June 6 Arrived Kahnawake

John and Lance, playing in the water at Kahnawake Marina

St. Catherine Lock after leaving Montreal.
Looking up from the Lock. The rain got worse as we passed through the lock. We were warned about the rocky bottom and low water outside the channel in Lake St. Louis. While checking the GPS for the exact location, the winds blew us a few feet out of the channel right into the rocks. The left engine was vibrating so badly that John limped us back to the nearest marina. Slowly creeping with the port side vibrating and the depth alarm going off we got to the fuel dock. John jumped into the 60 degree water to check and luckily the prop was mangled. He tried to remove it to no avail. As he thawed out in the marina office (BAR) two fellows watching the races offered help. They called Lance who dove in and replaced the prop with our spare. John then slipped into the water, for some reason withOUT his cell phone.
Warm and dry again back in the marina office (bar) sipping a brandy we learned we were on a Mohawk Indian Reservation. Everyone in the bar was an iron worker and of Mohawk descent. John explained to me iron workers do the ballet dance on the 50 story I beams construct skyscrapers. The Mohawks are chosen for the lack of fear in this situation.
