Continuing to St Jean de Richeleau
St. Jean de Richeleau is the first city of the Richeleau canal and lock system.
We bought a season canal and mooring pass from Parcs Canada here. The good news is that this allows you free overnight dockage at the canal entrances and the nearby public parks. Some with water and electricity, some with nothing. The bad news is the passes totalled $700.00. It was an easy decision since we plan to spend 20 or 30 days in the parks
A home along the canal, note the beach front.
Cutter, helping us plan the next few days
The Richelieu canal is very straight and narrow in some parts. The locks just opened on May 21, due to the cold weather. The opening times are limited. Today we were ready at 8:30 AM only to find out the next opening for North bound vessel opening was at 12:30. Time to relax and act like a tourist.
