4/28 Espito to Charleston 3 hrs.

You never know who you are going to meet on the waterway. All of a sudden I looked up and saw two pirate ships at a distance. As we got closer, it became apparent we were about to pass the Nina and the Santa Maria. I wish their sails were up.

We arrived in Ashley Marina, Charleston around 3:30 , giving us enough time to straighten (slightly) the boat and take the courtesy shuttle downtown. The Captains plan is to give me an art gallery fix every so often to stave off a mutiny. When we returned to Kids Again, we decided to turn on the TV for the first time this trip, but couldn't get it to work. We attached the DVD and watched Elf.

April 29

Took the morning to clean and unpack. The vessel looks great.

We set up our blogspot and started our first blog today. I'm sure they will be much better and easier as the time goes on, but right now it seems to take forever.

Charleston Harbor

Lynn Hardwick, Vicky's friend from Springmaid Beach art workshops, lives in Charleston and met us. We enjoyed lunch at the Muse restaurant and our personal tour and history lesson. So much to see and do in Charleston you could spend 6 months there. We saw a huge brick waterfront home with two huge cement pig statues at the entrance. Lynn said the owner was none other than the founder of the piggly wiggly stores. and some of his aristocratic neithbors were less than thrilled with their presence and especially when the pigs are dressed for the holidays. Beautiful decorative wrought iron was reminescnet of New Orleans . We would never have seen the beautiful tree lined streets without a personal tour.
