July 12-15 Lake Superior to Lake Huron

Leaving Sault St. Marie , Canada, we noticed our first Moose
It is amazing this side is Canada and across the waterway is America.

More amazing is that people actually pay to ride in a boat up and down a lock. Neat idea to finance our trip

We were surprised with colors of the water in Lake Superior. Reminded us of the Florida Keys.

As we continued in Lake Superior the fog and the wind again returned. The gray you see is not cloud, but fog rolling in around noon.

When the freighter left the lock and scooted under the bridge that connects America and Canada we entered it for our return . Holding the lines in the lock chamber we listened to our VHF as a sailboat, Afternoon Delight , in the other chamber reported a line had caught in his prop and he was disabled in front of a huge freighter. A tour boat offered to tow him out of the chamber and he waited tied to the wall until he could be pulled back to the other side.
We stopped at the Marina Sault St. Marie, America marina and called Homeland Security to check into our country, and removed our Canadian courtesy flag.

The perfect sunset at 9:30 pm for our first day in the states. It's hard to believe I had a jacket on in the 49 degree evening weather mid-July.
Walking to the grocery store we passed a dead tree which was carved into this statue.
Again more fog behind the lighthouse.

The fog lifted and an eerie calm settled over the glass-like Lake Huron.

Arriving at the marina, we looked under the boat and in the 8 feet of water found these sea flowers growing.

WOW... is all I can say. Had no idea, either, that the water would be that color!!!

Keep an eye out for fog... keep sending photos. That moose looks... a... sorta like a statue. Sure it isn't?
