5/4 Belhaven marina to Midway Marina NC 6 hrs.

Meeting a passing traveller in the Alligator-Pungo Canal

While travelling through the 20 mile long Alligator-Pongo Canal, we watched closely for dead-heads (partially submerged trees and logs ) through this swamp area. Cutter watched for alligators. The deadheads are waterlogged cypress logs either partially submerged or stirred up by another boaters wake.

This was a very narrow stretch and kept us on our toes staying in the middle of the channel.

After passing this challenge Vicky's reward was a day of leisure and artwork at Midway Marina's picnic benches. John had to settle for a 32 ounce prime rib across the canal.
